Yesterday Central Park was glowing with piles of beautiful people of all ages. It wouldn’t be a true Giant Step produced SummerStage without the most adorable of children scurrying around and an eclectic bunch of young folks sprawled out soaking up the sun and an AsiaDog or three.

Hiatus Kaiyote, Jose James, and Shuggie Otis all put on brilliant performances leaving an ever attentive crowd cheering for more over and over. And DJ OP! held it down all day to many, many happy ears. Amongst the crowd were Salaam Remi, DJ Spinna, Jesse Boykins III, and TK Wonder. Check the day in photos below!

Featuring the mighty Shuggie Otis, the mesmerizing Jose James, and the stage-wrecking Hiatus Kaiyote, our SummerStage presentation this year is a true testament to the breadth of Giant Step’s heritage. And if that weren’t enough, DJ OP!, one of our favorites, will be setting the tone in the very best way to help set things off.

Be sure to join us on August 11 for a day of family fun in NYC!

This level of abject foolishness means only one thing: summertime! It’s July but for a lot of New Yorkers making do with a pittance of sunshine, summer has just only begun. But even through a completely soaked June, some of us kept our dispositions on the sunny tip like singer Miz Metro. She premiered her bubbly video “Trashion” – a montage of her flouncing about the LES – at her recent SOB’s mixtape release party. While her fussy outfits and re-purposed Metro Card accessories evoke a street artist/trustafarian trying to “find herself,” her music is actually warm and effortless. Toasty soul from zany white chicks is usually pretty fun.
