New Track: Eric Lau & Oddisee – “What I’d Rather” (Preview)

    April 17th, 2012

Unfair is this preview for this new Eric Lau and Oddisee track, "What I'd Rather." About twelve seconds in, we already knew that we needed to have it all. The mellow tune eases you in with its muffled piano and Oddisee's effortless flow that caresses and slaps you in the breath - how rude/awesome.

"What I'd Rather" will be available on April 21!

New Release: Eric Lau – ‘The Mission’ EP

    February 16th, 2012

Obviously, you are still grooving to Eric Lau's "Yesterday" like we are - and how could you not? But now there is more where that came from.

The Mission EP includes seven tracks with the overarching theme including Detroit rapper Guilty Simpson on the majority of the tracks. Simpson is sounding pretty incredible against these Lau beats. Folks are going to need to get to work to try to compare to these joints. Loving this!

Looks like the Eric Lau and Guilty Simpson collaboration ("The Mission") back in November wasn't a one time thing. Their newest tune, "Yesterday," is a characteristically chilled out track with droopy keys and features some pretty pretty background vocals from Fatima and Olivier Daysoul. Feel free to let your hair down for this one.

New Track: Eric Lau & Guilty Simpson – “The Mission”

Missing Eric Lau after watching his video interview in September, aren't you? We know you are. That's why we convinced him to record a new track with Guilty Simpson (we didn't really) just to share with you. How awesome are we?!

The track is called "The Mission" and is definitely an interesting direction for the producer. The sound is still sparkling and soulful, yet this time with a bit more grit than your standard Lau tune. The gully Guilty rides the mellow beat quite well himself. Definitely appreciate both these artists stretching themselves and trying something new.

What a gem to stumble upon. This one is a video with Londoner Eric Lau where he shares his production process in his studio.

To boot, the track in the demonstration is also available for free download! We love this guy. Looking forward to more new ish, soon, please!
