Video: A.Dd+ – “Under” + Free Download

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

The moody video for “Under” by Dallas based hip-hop duo A.Dd+ features rapper Dustin Cavazos and producer Picnic Tyme (of the Cannabinoids crew with Erykah Badu).

The piano-driven beat featuring Little Dragon’s “Twice” aids heavily in creating a cozy, nostalgic feel to the track. It can be quite the feat to live up to samples with such strong recognition and memories already attached to them, so we have to give it up to A.Dd+ for really carrying the song and making it their own.

Artist Spotlight: Stac + MP3s

UK based vocalist Stac takes no prisoners; she drops you into an alternate dimension where nothing else exists on her Blue Daisy remix of “Head On Me.” Love. She cites Erykah Badu, Lewis Taylor, Jamie Lidell, and red wine amongst her influences. Not mad at that. The Brit School trained artist has also received glowing praise from acclaimed talents Alice Russell, Mark Ronson, and Gilles Peterson. In June of last year, Stac released her debut album, Turn That Light Out, which she has subsequently turned into two remix records. Below are two free downloads from the second remix album released this past April. Many thanks to Amelia Ideh at Put Me On It for the awesome recommendation!

GPWW 4/13/11: Now That’s What I Call Bumps Vol 3 + Erykah Badu Mix

This week brings back the new head-nodding portion of the weekly GPWW radio show: Now That’s What I Call Bumps. Introduced to the show a few weeks ago to highlight the new generation of ‘unclassifiable’ producers, Bumps spoiled us quick, so last week its absence from the show was sorely missed. Thank goodness volume three is in this episode; the Bumps are here to stay.

As if that weren’t enough, the special worldwide mix is provided by none other than Erykah Badu. For past events, she has gone by the DJ name Low Down Loretta Brown, but here she explains to Gilles modestly that she wouldn’t call herself a DJ, rather a selector.

Taylor McFerrin Video: “A Place in My Heart” ft Ryat

Taylor McFerrin feat. Ryat – Place in My Heart from Simon Benjamin on Vimeo.

“A Place in My Heart” by Taylor McFerrin and Ryat has been on heavy rotation in our office for months, so we’re thrilled to see some visuals. They’re guaranteed to be good, coming from the best new West Coast record label, Brainfeeder, owned by Flying Lotus who’s just made his own very successful foray into directing music videos with Erykah Badu‘s “Gone, Baby…” and Bilal‘s “Levels”.
