Giant Step & ESL at SXSW: Dubspot and Friends Showcase ft Tru Thoughts, ESL Music, and Bastard Jazz – March 18

If you are among the lucky ones heading south to Austin for the annual SXSW festival then you need to make note of the following showcase (trust me, you will kick yourself if you miss this one): On Friday, March 18th, Giant Step teams up with Tru Thoughts, ESL Music and Bastard Jazz to bring you a night of music you will not forget. Showcasing Nickodemus, Belleruche (Tru Thoughts), Ancient Astronauts (ESL Music), DJ Obah (Dubspot), Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), DJ DRM (Bastard Jazz), Barry Cole and Giant Step’s own Erik The Red. The usually quiet Kenichi will be conquered by the beat, and turned into a haven of music starting at 7:00pm. Entrance is free, but strictly RSVP, so come ready to get sexy and get down.

New Video For Kabanjak’s “Don’t Worry” Featuring Sitali

Switchstance Recordings‘ debut music video comes from Kabanjak (one half of Ancient Astronauts) for “Don’t Worry,” featuring Sitali of Thievery Corporation’s live band. Shot by ESL Music’s Robin Bell on a sunny day in the nation’s capitol, the backdrop for the video fits the song perfectly. And with new material from Kabanjak and the Ancient Astronauts coming soon, the new year is looking equally bright.

Label Love World Wide: Ubiquity, Fania, Tru Thoughts & More

If, for some reason, we decided to make a list of our favorite record labels, this group here would take up a bulk of that list. So Label Love is a perfectly appropriate name for this project.

Featuring Ubiquity, Fania, Plug Research, ESL Music, Now-Again, Tru Thoughts and Bastard Jazz, the free compilation highlights some of today’s brightest musicians, as well as a hint of what’s to come in the near future from these esteemed record labels.

Get the free compilation as a download via Label Love Worldwide Bandcamp.
