In celebration of their new MPC-inspired BPM watch, Flud has been releasing a series of videos showcasing various hip-hop producers discussing their craft. Each week, a new video will be showcased, featuring artists such as Exile, Showbiz, Lord Finesse, AraabMuzik, Evidence and DJ Spinna, to name some.
Today, we are premiering a piece with DJ Nu-Mark, who shares his thoughts on rock drums versus hip-hop drums, digging culture, formulating ideas, and working in the studio.
Having amassed a record collection of 35,000 since the age of thirteen, DJ Nu-Mark is certainly seasoned in the game. Most notably, many may know Nu-Mark from his production and DJ sets with Jurrassic 5. Considered a key figure in DJ culture, he’s made appearances in various documentaries and talk shows. Since Jurassic 5′s disbandment in 2006, Nu-Mark has kept busy refining his skill, experimenting with children’s music toys and world music. Look out for his debut solo album, Broken Sunlight, dropping this fall.
