Artist Spotlight: Stac + MP3s

UK based vocalist Stac takes no prisoners; she drops you into an alternate dimension where nothing else exists on her Blue Daisy remix of “Head On Me.” Love. She cites Erykah Badu, Lewis Taylor, Jamie Lidell, and red wine amongst her influences. Not mad at that. The Brit School trained artist has also received glowing praise from acclaimed talents Alice Russell, Mark Ronson, and Gilles Peterson. In June of last year, Stac released her debut album, Turn That Light Out, which she has subsequently turned into two remix records. Below are two free downloads from the second remix album released this past April. Many thanks to Amelia Ideh at Put Me On It for the awesome recommendation!

Black Cab Session with Jamie Lidell

In the back of a black cab with just a microphone, an amp, and his crazy skills, Jamie Lidell lays down a looped beat box and the soulful vocals from his new track, “The Ring,” off of his recently released album, Compass. Riding around the streets of London, he creates a taste of signature Jamie Lidell magic.

Jamie Lidell – “The Ring” Video

From Jamie Lidell himself: “Jamie and fellow musicians including Chilly Gonzales and Dan Rossen (Grizzly Bear) lift their hammers in this Anvil blues, whose lyrics describe a bedraggled beachcomber as he is seen desperately searching for his lost gold. The video, shot by Lindsey Rome in double vision through the barrel of a dusty camera’s sights finds Jamie returning to the songs birthplace, the beaches of Western Australia, to shout it out from the sands.”

Taken from the forthcoming album Compass out May 18th on Warp Records.
