josejamesAfter a 2 year absence from NYC, José James is finally back and he has a brand new CD to show off. Blackmagic, released February 1st, has been garnering steady critical acclaim since its release. Featuring the likes of Flying Lotus on the production team, this album is both a nod to José’s jazz roots as well as a step into a new R&B laden sound for him. Put Me On It blogger said it best when she said “this is the kind of album that makes you want to name your first born José, even if you’re Nigerian.”

He will be making a rare NYC appearance on Saturday, April 17 at Hiro Ballroom. There are very limited advance tickets and table reservations available here.

Celebrating its 6th anniversary, the NYC Winter Jazzfest is taking over the West Village this weekend, on Friday, Jan. 8th and Saturday, Jan. 9th. Showcasing over 40 of the best jazz and experimental artists, at five of the neighborhood’s most esteemed venues, boomBOOM Presents is bringing jazz fans back to what was once considered the heart of New York City’s jazz scene.
