DJ Brainchild & Dego Release It’s All Over The Place Mixtape + Dego’s Solo Debut Album Out June 20th

Brooklyn based music aficionado and our pal DJ Brainchild was commissioned by the highly revered sound magician Dego (2000Black, 4Hero, Silhouette Brown) to create a mixtape chronicling his works, old and new alike. Brainchild took care to perfect a delicate balance between well known tracks, lesser known “overlooked” tracks, and hidden gems many probably didn’t know existed. His favorite from the mix include: 4Hero’s “Hold It Down,” Da One Away’s “Trash Da Junk,” Dego’s “What ever” and 2000 Black’s “If You Got 3 Wishes” and “Got Me Puzzled.”

Silhouette Brown’s two Out Now

albumAfter half a decade, Silhouette Brown – the original production and songwriting team of Bembe Segue, Kaidi Tatham and Dego – return with their sophomore album aptly titled, two. Silhouette Brown guides us towards a new dimension for modern soul music with a distinctively London-esque flair, combining jazz and nu soul.

This time they are joined by Philadelphia’s Lady Alma of 4hero’s “Hold It Down” fame and delve into an array of subject matters. Leaning toward a hip hop sound, “Get With It” features Brand Nubian’s Sadat X, who waxes about uniting and progressing. Another instant hit is the collaboration with musical director Akwasi on “Strawberries in Vinegar,” a guaranteed boogie anthem. On two, London’s underground production heroes Dego and Kaidi push a warm, sumptuous, melody-driven groove in a way that only they know how.

Silhouette Brown To Release New Album, Two

silhouette

Silhouette Brown‘s self-titled debut was greatly received and seemed to fill a gap in the soul underground, so 5 years is a long time to wait for a follow-up. But as they say, good things come to those who wait. The production & song writing team that is Silhouette Brown consists of Bembe Segue, Kaidi Tatham and Dego. This time around they are joined by a new vocalist the unmistakable sound of Philadelphia’s Lady Alma. Lady Alma has appeared on countless club classics over the years from Sylk 130’s “When the Funk Hits the Fan” to Soul Dahmma’s “Happy” and 4hero’s “Hold it Down”.

Two will be released on February 9, 2010 on 2000black Records.
