Kendra Morris gets her Amy Winehouse on something heavy and we aren’t mad at it. “Pow,” like many of Winehouse’s songs, tells a story of a manipulative and destructive relationship that she just can’t seem to cut herself loose from. The song is off her debut album, Banshee, and the video features animations James Works who did the famed animation for “Lightworks” by Dilla.

Gonna be a problem trying to get this one out of our head!

Video: Kendra Morris – “If You Didn’t Go”

Following up on her debut single “Concrete Waves,” which we featured in November, soul siren Kendra Morris now returns with a dreamy new tune called “If You Didn’t Go.” The video features fuzzy nostalgic visuals to go with the song’s mellow throwback soul somewhere in the vein of Fleetwood Mac.

Video: Kendra Morris – “Concrete Wave”

New Wax Poetics Records signee Kendra Morris has just dropped the first single and video from her spring 2012 slated album. The dynamic personality and bellowing voice sings to command an audience.

The song is “about going after something that is so wrong,” says Kendra, “but it feels so good, and you go ahead and do it anyways. You ride that wave, and the high it gives you is incredible, but eventually you hit a crack in the pavement and are bound to spill.”

The video is an interesting tale of an obsessive lover that chases the laissez-faire Kendra to no avail. The sassy singer teases him along much to his chagrin.
