Instrumental post-rock and electronic dance band Lotus is set to release its third full-length studio album September 13th via SCI Fidelity Records. The self-titled album finds the band moving in a decidedly more electronic direction, while still staying true to their organic roots.
Analog synthesizers, manipulated sounds, dub effects and heavy bass are balanced by horns and string arrangements in addition to Lotus's standard guitar/bass/drums instrumentation. Grooves range from slinky funk and gritty half-time on the first half of the album to the beautiful and expansive closing track "Orchids." Below is a stream for their song "Blacklight Sunflare."
The band has become a staple on the festival circuit as its unique musical voice fits in everywhere from Bonnaroo to Ultra Music Fest. Earlier this month, Lotus co-headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre with The Glitch Mob to a sold out audience who danced the night away under the clear Colorado sky.
Lotus is composed of Mike Greenfield (Drums), Jesse Miller (Bass, Sampler), Luke Miller (Guitar, Keys) and Mike Rempel (Guitar).
