Video: Lupe Fiasco – “Battle Scars” ft. Guy Sebastian (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

    January 3rd, 2013

With Food & Liquor II now up for a Grammy, Lupe Fiasco has seamlessly made a return into the limelight. Last night, he gave an incredible performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon alongside Guy Sebastian of his latest single, "Battle Scars." Backed by none other than The Roots, this live rendition was full of spirit and fervor as they all lit up the stage for an unforgettable moment. Not gonna be able to get this out of our head, either.

A dreadlocked Lupe Fiasco stars in the video for the all too real new tune, "Around My Way [Freedom Ain't Free]." In his typical memorable flow, Lupe gets down amidst the city with lyrics hitting on the questionable ins and outs of daily living pushed up against the notion of the American Dream.

The track is from Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, which will be out on September 25.

If you've been anywhere on the internet today, you'd should have easily seen about eleventy-billion posts about our man Robert Glasper and his oh so fancy Experiment's release of Black Radio. We're still blinking after seeing the iTunes price of $6.99 - that's like, basically free.

Yes, the album actually features Erykah Badu, Lupe Fiasco, Lalah Hathaway, Shafiq Husayn, Ledisi, and Meshell Ndegeocello, amongst others. No, we're not kidding when we say the that Black Radio is top to bottom worthy of a sublime stupor.

After dizzying ourselves from running around in circles of excitement all morning, we have now transitioned to the running man in anticipation of the release show at the Highline Ballroom in NYC tonight. And while you're hating us in our unabashed show-off, do know that you can also gloat by grabbing tickets to tomorrow's newly added second release show on Wednesday, February 29th.

Also, hats off to Okayplayer for premiering the video for the title track featuring Yasiin Bey! Check it out above.
