Video: Nick Waterhouse – “I Can Only Give You Everything”

California-based producer Nick Waterhouse may be a newcomer but he’s certainly already creating a space for himself within the realm of vintage soul.

His dedication to preserving a vintage sound is impressive when you consider his technique, which includes “entirely vintage analog equipment, open-reel tape machines, lacquer cutting machines, and even hand letter-pressed labels.”

If you dig Mark Ronson or Mayer Hawthorne, you need to pay attention to this dude.

Also, grab his EP, Is That Clear, that dropped a couple months ago and keep a lookout for a full album out in 2012!

Artist Spotlight: Stac + MP3s

UK based vocalist Stac takes no prisoners; she drops you into an alternate dimension where nothing else exists on her Blue Daisy remix of “Head On Me.” Love. She cites Erykah Badu, Lewis Taylor, Jamie Lidell, and red wine amongst her influences. Not mad at that. The Brit School trained artist has also received glowing praise from acclaimed talents Alice Russell, Mark Ronson, and Gilles Peterson. In June of last year, Stac released her debut album, Turn That Light Out, which she has subsequently turned into two remix records. Below are two free downloads from the second remix album released this past April. Many thanks to Amelia Ideh at Put Me On It for the awesome recommendation!

Mark Ronson’s Record Collection Out Now

Mark Ronson is back, and this time more than ever he means business – The Business INTL, in fact. Record Collection is the third album headed up by the trans-Atlantic music mastermind and, as usual, he’s brought a host of talented friends and mainstay collaborators along for the ride: Ghostface Killah, Q-Tip, MNDR, Boy George, D’Angelo, Nick Hodgson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, The Zutons’ Dave McCabe, Spank Rock, Elinor Dougall, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters, Cathy Dennis, Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt, and more.

By now, half the globe is already familiar with the lead-in single “Bang Bang Bang,” a 3am Cote d’Azur disco beat featuring Q-Tip and MNDR that takes the French nursery rhyme “Alouette” and turns it into a Jean Michel Jarre meets NYC hip-pop sing-along. 2010 just got a lot more fun.

Mark Ronson Remixes

By now, you’ve surely heard Mark Ronson & the Business INTL‘s lead-in single “Bang Bang Bang”.  It’s become a smash hit everywhere, from Japan to Australia, France to Finland.  This disco number featuring Q-Tip and MNDR vamps up the French nursery rhyme “Alouette,” creating a NYC hip-hop sing-along with a twist of je ne sais quoi.  The new batch of remixes for “Bang Bang Bang” features Russ Chimes, SBTRKT, and Count & Sinden.

Another must-hear remix is Major Lazer‘s transformation of the originally breezy “Bike Song” from cutesy to sexy.  Major Lazer focuses on Spank Rock’s verse for the song’s total makeover into a club bumpin’ techno beat.
