This M.I.A. “Zig Zag” gem appeared on the internet today, another track that didn’t make it to her other projects. Yes, she was inspired by NKOTB in making this one. Google it little ones, and learn the New Kids’ history.

M.I.A. released the Vicki Leekx mixtape at the top of January with another custom web domain, which included an interactive globe and listeners popping up as dots across continents. We should’ve known that was just the beginning: in this video, released on Wednesday, we see the globe spinning, lit up with M.I.A. fans, plus her internet-crash style imagery and real Wikileaks footage. This is just part one, so expect more chaos soon…
M.I.A.’s hotly anticipated third full-length /\/\ /\ Y /\ has finally arrived, following the internationally critically acclaimed Arular (2005) and Kala (2007). Like its predecessors, /\/\ /\ Y /\ deftly mixes politics, social consciousness, and inimitable genre blending. As much a political statement as a musical one, the new album takes a scathing look at our ever-increasing dependence on the digital world. Producers on the album include Rusko, Blaqstarr, Switch, Diplo, John Hill, Derek Miller, Sugu, and Maya herself. You can check her out live on July 24th at Hard Fest in NYC on South Island Field, Governor’s Island.
