M.I.A. Brings the Noise to a Warehouse in Queens

Since her debut album back in 2005, M.I.A has made a career out of being the bad girl rockstar. Her creative mix of street fashion and high couture combine with her genre bending rap-pop songs to make her a trendsetter in the best sense of the word. She brought this compelling energy to the brand new Knockdown Center, located deep into Queens. The converted glass factory-turned-venue is in a wholly industrial district, nestled among autobody shops and Chinese importing warehouses.  There was no alcohol available at the venue due to a permitting issue, but this did not stop the raving dance party that M.I.A. inspires.

Stream M.I.A. ‘Matangi’ in Full

 

M.I.A.’s new album, Matangi, is now available for complete stream ahead of its November 5 release date. The dark, gritty project has got several gems on it, including standout new tunes “Lights” and “Sexodus.” Previous singles “Only 1 U,” “Bad Girls,” “Y.A.L.A.,” and “Bring The Noize” also appear on the album.

55th Annual Grammy Nominations

 

Some awesome artists getting recognized with the 55th Grammy nominations this year. Super glad to see our boy Frank Ocean, Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, M.I.A., Florence & The Machine, The Roots, Bjork, and Miguel, amongst many others making the list.

And once again, we are thrilled to see so many great projects we worked making the nominee list as well. A big congrats to Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, and Anthony Hamilton for snagging more than one nomination, too! The 55th Grammys will air on February 10.
