    TOKiMONSTA – ‘Creature Dreams’

    June 23rd, 2011

It's not every day you see female producers out there, and it's certainly not often that we hear of one with chops enough to be welcomed into the boys club that is music production. Over the last couple of years, TOKiMONSTA has quietly crept up to the ranks of being a must watch artist. As the only woman on Flying Lotus' label, Brainfeeder, Toki holds her own and then some with her recent Creature Dreams EP. The project is inspired by the woozy dreamy state she found herself while crafting during the wee hours of the night. As with any of her other work, Creature Dreams is moving; melodic, trippy, and dense yet still sexy, it's the perfect ambient music for a rainy daydream or a late night work session.

New Track: Van Hunt – “June” + MP3

    June 17th, 2011

Last time we caught up with Van Hunt was during an interview in August of 2009 while he was still working on the record he's now about to release. Close to two years later, the ever-funky soul maestro is ready to share a new track called "June" (free for download below). But this is just the beginning; Van plans to sprinkle some free download goodness on us every month leading up to the release of his new album, What Were You Hoping For? (out September 27th). Among the freebies will be the album's first single, "Eyes Like Pearls," which is slated to hit radio this summer. Sir Hunt has also relaunched his official website, www.vanhunt.com - it'll be another place you can download and find out more on the awesomeness ahead.

Jill Scott to Release The Light of the Sun

    June 15th, 2011

The incomparable miss Jill Scott is returning with her fourth studio album on June 21st and we're beside ourselves with excitement. Thanks to NPR and their "first listen" stream of the entire work, you won't have to wait to preview the super dopeness. It's amazing to be able to say that the dynamic vocalist is taking her sound to new heights with a new style that actually works - not something you can say for most folks. That's a timeless artist right there.
