As if the prospect of the upcoming Thievery Corporation show on June 24th at the Williamsburg Waterfront wasn't exciting enough, word has reached us that Raphael Saadiq will be joining the bill. More special guests are expected to be announced closer to the show. It would seem the perfect summer show just got more perfect.
Just Announced: Our Annual SummerStage Show Line-up with Lee Fields And The Expressions, Fitz And The Tantrums, Andreya Triana & Rich Medina – Sat, 6/25May 5th, 2011
Every year Giant Step's SummerStage party is hailed as one of the best summer events in New York, and every year we try to outdo ourselves searching far and wide for the best musicians we can find. This year we decided to go on the soul and funk tip with performances by Lee Fields And The Expressions, Fitz And The Tantrums, Andreya Triana (US debut), and a very special DJ set from our friend Rich Medina.
Doors to SummerStage open at 3:00pm, on Saturday, June 25th. Use the 72nd St. entrance to Central Park when you come out and bring the whole family because an event this special only happens once a year.
Thanks to the runaway success of her international hit “New Soul,” Yael Naim’s self-titled 2007 release propelled this French-Israeli singer-songwriter on a yearlong promotional trek around the globe. Naim’s stunning new album, She Was a Boy (which has already surpassed Gold status in France), collects 13 luminous folk-pop gems, each recorded at the singer’s apartment-turned-workshop. Upbeat tunes like “Come Home,” “Stupid Goal” and “Go to the River” will instantly appeal to fans of “New Soul,” though She Was a Boy presents a serious expansion of Naim’s sound as well.
