After giving an amazing performance last week in Boston at the beautiful Woodward at Ames, José James zipped back to New York City to make an appearance later that week at the Lincoln Center. Along with Robert Glasper and Bilal on the bill these gentlemen thrilled the audience and made very clear, just how unclear the line between jazz and soul can be. Check out what the New York Times had to say about him, and about the re-emergence of jazz in the mainstream.

Janelle Monáe truly gave us an epic show on Tuesday night, supported by DJ Moni. Those of you who stood patiently in line got into the venue with plenty of time to get your groove on and revel in Janelle Monáe’s The ArchAndroid Spectacular Emotion Picture experience. If you didn’t make it, maybe you can catch Janelle on tour with Erykah Badu. It’s a show not to be missed. But no matter who you are, cop the new album as soon as possible.
These photos were taken at last week’s SVEDKA Miami release party for The ArchAndroid, hosted by Janelle Monáe. And tomorrow night, to celebrate her new release, Ms. Monáe will give a very special performance at Highline Ballroom (NYC) with DJ Moni. It will be a magical evening in Metropolis, so we hope you can make it. If you didn’t RSVP in time, try your luck in the contest for free tickets — quick.
