Bonjay – “Stumble” Video Double Premiere

Toronto based Electro-Dancehall duo Bonjay double-premiered 2 new videos for the song “Stumble” today off their buzz worthy debut Broughtupsy. The 2 videos directed by Sammy Rawal are basically the same video, but featuring 2 different dancers. Choreographer Dana Michel created a work fusing dancehall movement vocabulary and modern dance techniques to reflect the fusion of Bonjay’s sound aesthetic. Dancer Addy Chan performed the work in the exclusive Canadian premiere on NOW Magazine (see video below), and dancer Liana Lewis is featured in the exclusive US premiere on Pop Matters (see video above).

The Beast & Nnenna Freelon’s “Freedom Part 2″ Video off New Album Freedom Suite

Here is the first video from Freedom Suite, the new project by Nnenna Freelon and The Beast hosted by 9th Wonder, to be posted for free download soon on Okayplayer‘s new jazz-inspired channel The Revivalist. Featured artists on this project of music & words include Phonte, YahZarah, Darien Brockington, Kooley High, Geechi SuedeBranford Marsalis, Amiri Baraka, Questlove, Herbie Hancock, Angela Davis and more.

Directed by Napoleon Wright II, the “Freedom Part 2″ video is a documentary-style short film, which follows The Beast as they volunteer and perform at a Durham-based non profit organization called SEEDS. All proceeds from the performance were donated to SEEDS, an organization which teaches inner-city youth how to plant, grow, harvest and sell crops in their own communities. Exclusive Premiere: Nneka Remixes of Heartbeat

Giant Step has the exclusive premiere of two remixes from Nneka‘s Heartbeat EP, to be released on October 5th. Her February full-length Concrete Jungle put her on the music industry’s radar, and since then she’s been praised as a new Lauryn Hill with a strong political message. For the Heartbeat EP, Nas hopped on a remix with producers like Chase Status, Kool Kojak, Crada and VLN.
