Video: Onra – ‘Chinoiseries Pt. 2′ Trailer

Parisian beatsmith Onra has been on our radar for at least a couple years now (with heavy raving from our friends). But as it sometimes goes, we never quite stopped to take the listen we should have. The above trailer for his most recent project, Chinoiseries Pt. 2, was just the reminder we needed. Dude is gully. Plainly and simply.

For the Chinoiseries project, he’s gone digging for Chinese records to create tickling, dark, almost menacing beats that just go. Hard. We’re going to need a hip hop martial arts flick to go with this, stat. Where’s Jackie Chan at?

Look out for Chinoiseries Pt. 2 to drop on November 15th.

New Release: Astronote – ‘The Raw Tape’

For those that haven’t yet heard Astronote’s The Raw Tape, it’s time you take a listen. Shifting effortlessly between sample-based and completely original work, the Parisian hip-hop producer decided to take a break from live instrumentation on this project. Instead, he used an analog sampler to create a more gritty sound, producing a texture that is almost palpable. Stream and download the 21-tracks of goodness below (name your price on Bandcamp). Below that, you’ll also find another free download: Astronote’s most recent full-length, Weapons of the Future. Double score.

Gold Panda – “MPB” + MP3

Hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, Gold Panda has been stirring a steady buzz for the last couple years with his hard-hitting live shows and catchy, trancey hip-hop production. Per his admitted affinity for and study of Japanese culture, his tracks also often hold an air of Eastern instrumentation. His most recent single, “MPB,” premiered on The Fader about a week ago and showcases a fantastical blend of bright tropical sounds. Stream and download below! Look out for his US tour in October, too.

New Artist: Mord Fustang

Estonian electronic producer/remixer Mord Fustang kinda rocks our world. Fresh to the scene, his first single dropped only a month and a half ago. Just last week, he released a totally radical remix of CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” which you can preview below. And you neeeeed to take a listen to one of our favorite tracks, “Lick the Rainbow,” also below. It sounds like a tropical forest house party on a spaceship with occasional alien attacks.

Mo Kolours – Free “Biddies” MP3

Mo Kolours has released this free track “Biddies” as a sampling of his upcoming EP, Drum Talking. A recently featured producer on the famous Gilles Peterson World Wide radio show, Mo Kolours has a growing reputation in the UK. This beguiling, otherworldly record sees him drawing heavily on the ‘sega’ music of his ancestral island homeland and uniting it with dub, soul and various electronic styles to create intriguing new combinations.

Biddies is a house-not-house bumper, driven by Mo Kolours’ crafty vocal manipulations, percussion and chants. This is a unique record announcing a very unusual talent.
