Video: Gizmo – “Love Song #3″ (Meshell Ndegeocello Cover)

We met bassist and singer Gizmo last year at HarlemStage when he was part of the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble shredding it up. To our surprise, we recently also found that homeboy is also a singer – and a pretty good one, at that. The 21-year old does a marvelous job above at covering Meshell Ndegeocello’s “Love Song #3.” Quite rad to see a dude singing her parts – it works well. Big kudos to Gizmo.

Gizmo also recently released his Derrick Hodge (Robert Glasper Experiment) produced debut album, Red Balloon, which features a gang of dope artists including Casey Benjamin (Robert Glasper Experiment / Q-Tip), Jamire Williams, Anna Wise of Sonnymoon, amongst several others.

We feel immensely fortunate continuing to work with these legends, too. Our most recent endeavor together, for those still unfamiliar, is the Offline party with Q-Tip.

Video: Q-Tip – ‘Offline’ Party Trailer

Q-Tip has now successfully torn the house down twice at our monthly Offline party at Irving Plaza in NYC. The inaugural party brought out about 800 folks and this last time we packed it in with upwards of 1000 music loving peeps! As you can see from our little trailer above – it was quite the place to see and be seen. And Tip’s shiny throne of of a DJ booth smack dab in the center of the dance floor was quite the work of art.

Come out this month on August 17 and celebrate the real New York, real music, real people. Step away from your computer and keep your phone turned off as Q-Tip takes you on a musical journey through the world of funk, jazz, hip hop, and more!
