Gil Scott-Heron‘s comeback continues, since Jamie XX remixed the full album I’m New Here to create We’re New Here. This video is for the second single off the remix album, layers of interpretation over the old standard, “I’ll Take Care of You.” The video, directed by Jamie James Medina and AG Rojas, tells the story of a young mother with a boxing career; seemingly exploring the question of ‘why we fight.’

On March 5th, Bilal brings his own live band to the windy city for a rare Chicago performance by the Philadelphia-born Soulquarian. Bilal’s 2010 album Airtight’s Revenge was arguably one of the best soul albums of the year, getting incredible feedback from both his peers and the press. The remixes, the covers and videos that came along with it were all leading to this – the tour. If you’re in Chicago next weekend, catch Bilal at The Shrine, presented by Giant Step and Dusty Groove, to experience the voice Janelle Monáe once described as a Van Gogh painting.
