Eddie Moore and the Outer Circle recently released their debut album called The Freedom of Expression. Tune in below for some great and very approachable melodic jazz – definitely sensing some Robert Glasper influence here.
The day is finally here for the new Jose James album, No Beginning No End. The work introduces Jose to a more universal audience through his graceful and astute plays with varied styles and genres on the album. He weaves together a sound that is so much more than just jazz and like Robert Glasper did with Black Radio, creates a bridge to help build a new musical frontier.
The star collaborators on the album help it sparkle and shine only more. Producer/bassist Pino Palladino, Glasper, Emily King, Hindi Zahra, and Kris Bowers are just a few of the talents that have helped transcend this project to its highest heights. In case you missed the NPR stream, definitely do kick off your shoes and take a little afternoon break for a listen – you won’t be disappointed.
Also, read the recent New York Times article to get a closer look at Jose’s journey and the path that led him to where he is today.

Robert Glasper bestowed us with a little holiday gift yesterday on Christmas. Calling on the other-worldly vocal joy that is Muhsinah, he created a brilliant new holiday song, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman.”
With Glasper’s signature stirring piano playing and Muhsinah’s chilling delivery, the track holds both a traditional and modern fusion feel, never quite resting in any singular place you can give a name to. Leave it to these two to partner up and evoke a few emotions or twelve. Holiday music isn’t the same anymore.
Some awesome artists getting recognized with the 55th Grammy nominations this year. Super glad to see our boy Frank Ocean, Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, M.I.A., Florence & The Machine, The Roots, Bjork, and Miguel, amongst many others making the list.
And once again, we are thrilled to see so many great projects we worked making the nominee list as well. A big congrats to Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, and Anthony Hamilton for snagging more than one nomination, too! The 55th Grammys will air on February 10. The massively talented and Grammy-nominated Robert Glasper will be bringing together his also supremely skilled comrades for a couple unforgettable evenings on December 13 and December 14. As you may have guessed, Robert Glasper: Songs in the Key of Life, the performances will pay homage to the timeless catalog of Stevie Wonder, including “new arrangements of Wonder’s music and the premiere of new Harlem Stage commissioned compositions by Glasper, inspired by Stevie Wonder.”
The events will take place at the Harlem Stage and will bring together the famed Robert Glasper Experiment along with Lalah Hathaway, Eric Roberson, Stokley (from Mint Condition), Questlove (Thursday only), and others.
On the December 14 night, a special pre-performance discussion will take place at 6:30PM with Robert Glasper, moderated by Andre Torres, Editor-in-Chief at Wax Poetics.
All but the Thursday 10PM show are sold out!
