SF: Red Bull Music Academy Events This Week

The famed Red Bull Music Academy will be hosting three back to back events with some New York musical legends to celebrate the application phase for this year’s program. For those unfamiliar, RBMA is an international music workshop held in a different city each year. In 2011, musicians were brought to Madrid, this year the Academy will be held in New York City.

See below for details all the awesomeness to ensue!

Video: Siaira Shawn – “Prototype”

Our girl Siaira Shawn has the sweetest voice. Here, she is performing the popular cover for Andre 3000′s “Prototype,” and yet still bringing something you’ve never quite heard before. The lady is a gem – her voice is like a blend of 90′s classic R&B mixed with underground neo-soul in its heyday.

Don’t forget to check out her “Icarus” single that dropped earlier this month.

New Release: Maria Remos – ‘Speakeasy as Pie Vol. 2′

Our friend and vocalist Maria “Songbird” Remos may spend her time frolicking in San Francisco, but O’ahu, Hawai’i is home. Starting out with improv jazz, Maria has developed her sound to include an eclectic mix of soul, hip hop, jazz, and reggae. Her new mixtape, Speakeasy as Pie Vol. 2, is a spirited blend of vintage soul sounds, infused with both electronic and hip hop.

This lady is super versatile with an incredibly pleasant voice that just rests on you. Looking forward to more!
