Drunken Monkey ft. Chrys-Anthony – ‘Diggin’ Pony’ EP

Oakland producer Drunken Monkey and San Francisco vocalist Chrys-Anthony have combined forces to create a dazzling work with an inimitable sound. The title track, “Diggin’ Pony,” explodes with Chrys-Anthony’s signature primal scream and Jeff “DJ F” Straw’s saxophone blasts. Jazzy, funky, and soulful, the Diggin’ Pony EP (released through Splintered Tree Records, August 1st) boasts a force to be reckoned with. Drunken Pony’s production pulls you out of your seat and Chrys-Anthony’s stylings hold a gripping depth similar to Cee-Lo Green’s.

Video: The Park’s “Belle”

You know The Park; They’re the rhythm section behind the awesome left-coast based group, Grillade. “Belle” is in fact a single from The Park’s June 28th slated debut album, The Process. The video is simple and moody like the track with a vintage-y mélange of overexposed-ish color bursts; It feels like it could be the soundtrack to an indie emo film about love in San Francisco. Shouts to Lefto for a job well done on this piece!

SVEDKA Vodka Sessions: Fitz And The Tantrums at the Clift

Giant Step blogger, Rehes, AKA Seher Sikandar, steps into the San Francisco Clift to catch Fitz And The Tantrums plus DJ Smash with her camera and her pen.

Where in the hail have I been?  I know, I know.  It’s been way too extra much long.  Practicing the intricacies of hermitism can be an exhausting task.

Re-assimilating into society at a swanky Giant Step show was just the fix.  What?  And it’s a super live band from the west coast?  There with bells on.

The most recent installment of the SVEDKA Vodka Sessions by Giant Step took place at the stylish Clift hotel in my beloved San Francisco. You walk into a dimly lit mod lobby with comfy earth tones and cosmopolitan visitors that certainly aren’t from anywhere around town.  I mean, I was feelin a little classy in my black hipster jeans and hoodie.  Shiiieeeett.

There was even this humongous ornate chair that was about eight feet tall.  It’d fit at least six point five models – or me and my homegirl.  Dazzling.
