New Release: Roses Gabor – ‘The Wonderful World Of Roses Gabor Vol. 1′ (Mixtape) + MP3

Most of you will probably recognize London vocalist Roses Gabor from “Pharaohs” off of SBTRKT’s release from last year. However, this mixtape is about to open your eyes to the far and wide worlds that Roses has already traversed, including work with Gorillaz and Theophilus London. Sass-n-frass for a good 45 minutes straight – working it!

When we first heard SBTRKT at his US debut during the SXSW Music Festival this March, we knew we were on to something. Just a few days ago, the London-based producer released his self-titled debut on Young Turks. The 11-track album blends a palatable mix of house, electronic, dubstep, and garage while keeping a soulful undertone throughout. According to Billboard, the project was recorded over the span of two years with most of the guest vocalists (Little Dragon, Sampha and Jessie Ware) recording on SBTRKT’s living room couch.

The low-key artist prefers to conceal his identity, keeping his real name to himself and wearing an African mask to his live performances. So, you’d imagine his surprise when he found that Drake chose to re-make his “Wildfire” single featuring Little Dragon. Go figure. Check out the original track for “Wildfire” above – we’ve already looped it about ten times. Also, don’t miss his only four US tour dates slated for this year.

Mark Ronson’s Record Collection Out Now

Mark Ronson is back, and this time more than ever he means business – The Business INTL, in fact. Record Collection is the third album headed up by the trans-Atlantic music mastermind and, as usual, he’s brought a host of talented friends and mainstay collaborators along for the ride: Ghostface Killah, Q-Tip, MNDR, Boy George, D’Angelo, Nick Hodgson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, The Zutons’ Dave McCabe, Spank Rock, Elinor Dougall, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters, Cathy Dennis, Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt, and more.

By now, half the globe is already familiar with the lead-in single “Bang Bang Bang,” a 3am Cote d’Azur disco beat featuring Q-Tip and MNDR that takes the French nursery rhyme “Alouette” and turns it into a Jean Michel Jarre meets NYC hip-pop sing-along. 2010 just got a lot more fun.

Mark Ronson Remixes

By now, you’ve surely heard Mark Ronson & the Business INTL‘s lead-in single “Bang Bang Bang”.  It’s become a smash hit everywhere, from Japan to Australia, France to Finland.  This disco number featuring Q-Tip and MNDR vamps up the French nursery rhyme “Alouette,” creating a NYC hip-hop sing-along with a twist of je ne sais quoi.  The new batch of remixes for “Bang Bang Bang” features Russ Chimes, SBTRKT, and Count & Sinden.

Another must-hear remix is Major Lazer‘s transformation of the originally breezy “Bike Song” from cutesy to sexy.  Major Lazer focuses on Spank Rock’s verse for the song’s total makeover into a club bumpin’ techno beat.

Check out a significantly less controversial new video from M.I.A.,  at least compared to the gruesome “Born Free” video. Our girl Maya has traveled a long, bumpy road to the release of her album /\/\/\Y/\ , but she’s still going strong and sticking with the GIF animation theme in her “XXXO” video. If you haven’t already, check out the “XXXO” remixes featuring Jay-Z and more remixes by Riton and SBTRKT.
