Almaz make their only New York City appearance on Friday, July 30 at Terminal 5 as a part of their Summer US tour promoting their latest project, Everybody Loves The Sunshine. While singer, Seu Jorge, is well known for throwing an amazing show, this new collaboration of musical masters revisiting songs famous within the Brazilian diaspora (Tim Maia, Jorge Ben) meshed with classic American (Roy Ayers, Michael Jackson) and European (Kraftwerk, Cane and Abel) soul songs, with a bit of psychedelic samba to top it off, promises to be a glorious foot stomping orgy. If you haven’t already, this is the time to get your tickets before they run out.
We are delighted to announce our 2009 SummerStage event on Saturday, July 18th. Giant Step’s annual concert is a highlight in our calendar, where previously we have been honored to present the likes of Femi Kuti, Seu Jorge, Jamie Lidell, Janelle Monáe and Gilles Peterson.
This year promises to be really special. We have the legendary Q-Tip headlining with his full live band, new boys Chester French, Sweden’s Little Dragon and from London, holding it down on the decks, Benji B.
Expect, as always, a great day of eclectic music, Giant Step’s vibes and the beautiful people that you can only find in a city as diverse as New York.
