Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival Wraps in Sète

This past Sunday, Gilles Peterson finished off his crazy amazing 2011 Worldwide Festival in Sète, France with some very happy fans.

Giant Step fan, Riki Drori wrote us some words while at the festival: “Greetings from the best kept secret in the world of music – the Worldwide Festival in Sète at the South of France. Kudos to Gilles Peterson for making it happen again! And thanks to Giant Step for always bringing us the best, most updated music. This is our second year at the Worldwide Festival and it is really a dilemma to write about it online; On one hand you want to give credit to Gilles and his team for making one of the best music festivals, and on the other hand, you want to keep it a secret – because one of the coolest things about this festival is the people that come to it.”

Check out some photos from this year’s festivities on Flickr.

The caliber of talent was a little out of control: Raphael Saadiq, Flying Lotus, Jamie xx, Mount Kimbie, Cut Chemist, Lefto, Simbad, Benji B, Dam Funk, Quantic, Owiny Sigoma Band, and James Blake.

We are anxiously awaiting next year. Yes, already.

I, Ced Releases ‘All In My Mind’ + Contest

Some may recognize I, Ced from his composition and production collaborations with artists like Coultrain and Black Spade. On All In My Mind, his debut solo album, I, Ced shares his ability to create an inspired body of work utilizing the sounds heard in head, samples, and his own live instrumentation.

I, Ced speaks on his work, “I chose for the album to be in black and white because that is the feeling that I got when the album was put together. This feeling came from the message in a songs, the feeling from the instrumentals, even from the sounds or vibe of a track. This album has some aspects of my life with the common denominator is LOVE. Falling in love, the conflicts, falling out of love and moving on. The funny part is even the relationship with me and music, which is heard throughout the album.”

With the likes of Simbad and Daz-I-Kue calling the entire album a work of art, it’s certain that I, Ced’s message will be heard and felt by many.
