Soul Train celebrates its 40th anniversary tonight at Damrosch Park. The evening will feature a live set from the legendary horn section Pee Wee Ellis & Fred Wesley, who will be jamming “funk classics from James Brown, the JBs and Lyn Collins.” Sir Biz Markie will also be in the building with a DJ set, which will include a display of rare vintage footage from Soul Train archives. We’re not done yet. Last, original Soul Train Dancer Tyrone Proctor will be gracing attendees with a dance lesson that will include “the Bump, The Robot, the Funky Chicken, and the all-important Loose Booty.” You’ll be dancing alongside pioneering Lockers he’s commissioned to come along as well. It’s going down tonight!
