Stac and Royce Wood Jr. got together this past December to put together a live session for Mary Anne Hobbs, exclusively for XFM. According to Stac, the experience was very surreal:

It was crazy. The only day that we could do it all was on Friday 23rd December. STRESS! So much preparation went into it, the OneTaste choir came and sang, The Dans got involved on bass guitar and kit (they play regularly for Jono McCleery and Jamie Woon, they are bad ass), Nick Lee from Amber States hopped on the guitar and Jamie Woon grabbed a mic, as did I. It was all very exciting.

Above, you’ll find the video for “Wet,” which will be out on February 13th! Enjoy.

New Release: Wah Wah 45s – ‘Allo Love Volume One’

Yes! This might be love. We are excited to share with you Wah Wah 45s first of what’s to be an extremely dope digital compilation series. Each compilation will be put together by a different member of the Wah Wah family, starting off with label head Dom Servini bringing us Allo Love Volume One.

The selections are brilliant. The mood of the compilation is mostly mellow with each highly melodic track easing us into the next. The music included represents Wah Wah 45s artists, extended family of the label, and a possible future signee! Hear music from Colman Brothers, Stac, Hackney Colliery Band, Ambassadeurs, Yult, Tanya Auclair, and Szjerdene, amongst others.

Artist Spotlight: Stac + MP3s

UK based vocalist Stac takes no prisoners; she drops you into an alternate dimension where nothing else exists on her Blue Daisy remix of “Head On Me.” Love. She cites Erykah Badu, Lewis Taylor, Jamie Lidell, and red wine amongst her influences. Not mad at that. The Brit School trained artist has also received glowing praise from acclaimed talents Alice Russell, Mark Ronson, and Gilles Peterson. In June of last year, Stac released her debut album, Turn That Light Out, which she has subsequently turned into two remix records. Below are two free downloads from the second remix album released this past April. Many thanks to Amelia Ideh at Put Me On It for the awesome recommendation!
