Aloe Blacc covers The Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale” from the album Good Things, available now.
Stones Throw artist Aloe Blacc has been working up to today’s release of Good Things with interviews, performances and viral covers (check out our Exclusive Giant Step video interview, coming soon!) After perfecting his emcee skills with producer Exile in their group Emanon and a solo debut record, Shine Through, Aloe Blacc emerged from relative obscurity this year when HBO chose his “I Need A Dollar” as the theme song for How To Make It In America. (“I Need A Dollar” is MP3 of the Day on Amazon) With production by the Truth & Soul crew, Good Things is now available and it’s the best soul album to come out this year.

“Drop” by The Pharcyde is arguably one of the greatest hip-hop videos ever made, not to mention all the Dilla-beat love. So when Skillz makes this confession about sleeping on Dilla and his tracks for “Runnin,” “Drop,” and “Something That Means Something” in his own ‘Confessional’ video series, we are truly getting a piece of hip-hop history.
Stones Throw renaissance man Aloe Blacc has a new release on iTunes with two singles from his new album, including “Take Me Back.” The forthcoming album is called Good Things, and will be produced by Truth & Soul with backing from Expressions and El Michels Affair.
