Our favorite Chicago venue is gearing up to celebrate their second anniversary and you know they are going to do it with a bang. On Sunday, June 5th, Louie Vega with the help of resident DJ Terry Hunter will ring in a new year at The Shrine. This is a very special Chicago appearance for the legendary Master At Work, so get there early and make sure you bring your dance shoes because there will be no wallflowers at this party.
Good news Chicago, our favorite drummer, producer and deejay Questlove will be rocking the house this Saturday, April 23rd, at The Shrine, with a special early performance from Chicago Afrobeat Project, who are kicking off a 3-month residency at The Shrine it so happens, so keep a look out for more of their shows.
Get there early to enjoy the premiere screening of The Return of Chicago Cool: The Creation of The Shrine. Doors open at 8pm, with viewing of documentary promptly at 8:30pm. All early-goers will receive complimentary admission to Questlove as well as a hosted cocktail bar courtesy of CIROC.
Do you remember Loose Ends from back in the 80s? Me neither. However what with the 80s and 90s firmly becoming the latest wave of retro-chic in music (and everything else), a lot of the old goodies from that period are resurfacing now, like this British R&B trio that crossed the pond in the early 80s and became the very first British export to top the Billboard R&B charts.
Well folks they’re back on the road and Giant Step, with our friends at The Shrine in Chicago, are excited to be showcasing them on Saturday, April 16th, backed by Verzatile and special guest DJ Mark Fulla Flava. Join us on Saturday, April 9th, at The Shrine as the duo makes a pit stop in Chicago on their New World Culture Tour with special guests Blu and Res, backed The Shrine’s residents Verzatile and DJ Mark Fulla Flava. Doors open at 8:00pm and show starts at 9:00pm.
While it’s been a few years since Goapele has released a studio album, she has been touring and performing constantly since the release of Change It All back in 2005. She will be performing live this coming Saturday, April 2nd, at The Shrine in Chicago backed by Verzatile with special guest DJ Mark Fulla Flava.
