Video: The xx – Three-Part Documentary + “Last Christmas” (Wham Cover)

Pop darlings The xx were flung into the limelight a few years ago, and since have been on a non-stop journey. The young British group share their story in a three-part documentary they break up into “Recording,” “Rehearsal,” and “Live,” giving you a well-rounded picture of exactly what goes on in their world. Watch part one above, and the remaining two parts after the jump.

The group also recently released a holiday tune covering Wham. You can stream “Last Christmas” below and enjoy the shivers that these guys invariably rule at giving. The son is also a free download!

After delighting us with their previous single, “Creeping,” sister alt-pop duo 2:54 are out with a new tune! The track is a cover of Seal’s 90s classic tune, “Killer” – hearing some nice parallels with The XX a la the echoey dreamy rock style. Stream that below.

About a month ago, the ladies also released an equally evocative video for “Sugar.” Nothing like some sexytime via neon lights, smoke, and shadows. Loving the nostalgic vibe to these jams! Watch above.

Catch 2:54 on tour beginning next month!

New Track: Belleruche – “Afan” + MP3

London electro-pop trio Belleruche tickles us so. Remember their awesome video for “Stormbird?” We do.

Now with their recent release of Rollerchain, the group is offering a free download of the playful album track “Afan.” A little spooky, a little bouncy, and a little mellow – the song takes us back to the mood of some of our favorite tunes by The XX.

Video: The XX – “Open Eyes”

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

The XX are something like fairy dust. Their debut album left us in an awe-filled paralysis as it seems to have also left Drake and Rihanna with their recent The XX samplings.

News of a sophomore album in the works has produced somewhat of an uncontainable glee of which we’ll spare you the details. What we will offer is a little preview of the album a la the “Open Eyes” demo above. Put this in a movie now.
