New Release: Kneebody – ‘The Line’ + US Tour

Kneebody‘s explosive rock energy paralleled with high-level nuanced chamber ensemble shines through on their fourth album, The Line, which includes 12 original compositions, and contributions from various members of the group.

The Line opens with a dark rock tune titled “Lowell,” then moves to a lighter mood with “Cha-Cha,” a contrapuntal number with an engaging swing beat. “Trite” embodies the non-linear approach the band gives to compositions, while “Still Play” has a twisty, technically challenging horn line that is complemented by the other players’ musicianship.

And catch Kneebody on their fall tour starting Friday, 9/27 in NYC!

Video: Moon Taxi – “Cabaret”

Using a mix of stock footage, Moon Taxi has created a both modern and vintage homage to Bennie’s Boom Boom Room in Mississippi, a club the band frequently plays. “Cabaret” is the title track from the group’s forthcoming album due for February 7th, 2012. The song is a marvelous rockish pop rock tune with reggae undertones – it’s going to get stuck in your head.

Germany’s Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble will be releasing their debut album, Mr. Machine, next week as they also embark on a supporting North American tour. The lovely guys are also throwing in a free download of the track that you can find below.

Be prepared to get blown away on next week’s release, which features a full 10-piece ensemble “fusing minimal techno with classical instrumentation.” Instruments include: violin, cello, harp, piano, trombone, tuba, timpani, marimba, vibraphone, drum set, various percussion and a Moog synthesizer. Amazing.
