Rachael Yamagata to Release ‘Chesapeake’ + Videos

[kml_flashembed movie="" width="550" height="445" allowfullscreen="true" fvars="fs=1" /]

If “Starlight” is any indication of Rachael Yamagata’s upcoming album, we are very, very excited. We love this song. Her raspy vocals tingle like nails going down your back, taking us back to the timeless character of a Fiona Apple song.

Chesapeake will be Rachael’s first studio album in three years and promises to delight with an “eclectic collection of songs projecting Yamagata’s newfound optimism and hopefulness.” Heck. Yes.

Look forward to Chesapeake dropping on October 11th.

After the jump, find a listing of Rachael’s extensive tour dates, beginning October 24th. Also find the “Even If I Don’t” video that dropped today.

DC-based world funk ensemble The Funk Ark has just released their debut album, From The Rooftops, and might we say that it’s quite uplifting. Drawing inspiration from African and Latin funk music of the 60′s and 70′s, The Funk Ark oozes a soulful vintage sound channeling Afrobeat and big band funk.

Keyboardist and songwriter Will Rast, well known for his work with the likes of Thievery Corporation and Ocote Soul Sounds, fronts the eight-piece band. The man is bringing it and taking listeners on a global funk journey that will have you melting into the dancefloor.
