New Release: Jaidene Veda – ‘shadowboxing heroes (mixes and monologues)’

    November 28th, 2012

You can take the album teaser off repeat now. Jaidene Veda this week released her new album, shadowboxing heroes (mixes and monologues), and simply just draws out the tease. Whew. We've got a few clips from the 23-track album for you to hear below.

Her beginning hums on "Open Love Letter" take us straight to Meshell Ndegeocello nostalgia as she then transitions into straight seductress spoken word, tightening her grip on your poor, poor heart. A soothing Ursula Rucker joins on "When" while Jai tickles us further with her backing vocals on the moving downtempo track.

    Video: Xolisa – “Be Felt”

Producer and melodic lyricist Xolisa recently released her debut video via a track she calls "Be Felt." The Canadian vocalist blends jazz, soul, hip hop and spoken word vibes to create music that is reminiscent of that nostalgic feel good of the late 90s and early 00s.

Reminds us a fair amount of Bahamadia with her flow, actually. She's also been compared to be "reminiscent of an early Ursula Rucker." However you look at it, all we know is that this ish is buttery smooth and could easily stir up some trouble...

Be wary of pressing play on this one; This is some baby making music.

Thanks to our friends at BamaLoveSoul for putting us on!
