NYC: Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble + Special Guests at HarlemStage – July 9

What’s summer in NYC without tons of incredible free concerts? This Saturday for HarlemStage, the good folks over at Revive Da Live present the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble with some very special guests. Any of the guests easily hold their own: Zap Mama, Pharoahe Monch, Jose James, Taylor McFerrin, J. Period, Mixtape Assassin, and Vinia Mojica. The Ensemble will feature “covers of unreleased Dilla tracks and a tribute to Gil Scott-Heron” along with reinterpretations of some of your favorite jazz, hip-hop and R&B tunes. This event is family friendly so please do bring your little ones!

Vinia Mojica Mix by DJ Seano

You have surely heard Vinia Monija‘s voice before, but you may not be aware of her as an artist. Often the featured vocalist creating the hooks, Vinia has been part of the hip-hop scene since 1989, from her appearances with Jungle Brothers to her features on tracks by Mos Def and Common. Check out this selection of Vinia tracks, thanks to our friends at Mint Collective and DJ Seano.
