Jessie J’s New Release: Who You Are + “Nobody’s Perfect (Netsky Remix)”

Jessie J‘s album Who You Are was released on Universal Republic this week, and unsurprisingly it rose to the top of the charts. You may already know that we jumped on the Jessie wagon early and we’re proud; see The Boombox Series Part 1 – “Who You Are” and Part 2 – “Price Tag”. A few days after we shot The Boombox Series with Arcade 44, her video for “Do It Like A Dude” came out and she blew up. By popular demand, her release date was moved up to this week. Stomp stomp she arrived!

By now you may have noticed that we are Jessie J fans. We love the outrageous “Do It Like a Dude” video and we love her “Boombox Series” video even more. We see her continuously on the rise and here is another sign: her single “Price Tag” has a verse from B.o.B. and a new relatively friendly music video.

Jessie J’s full-length Who You Are will be released in the US this Spring on Universal/Republic.

We are very pleased to present the first of The Boombox Series, the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Giant Step and Arcade44. For our first session, we got the chance to create some NYC-inspired magic with the rising star Jessie J. Jessie was recently named BBC’s #1 Sound of 2011 and her scandalous music video for “Do It Like A Dude” became an instant sensation; she has everything in place to continue her rise to the top. Another factor is her natural songwriting ability: we hear she’s gotten requests from the best of the world’s pop stars including Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Rihanna,  Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera… we could go on. Check out Jessie serenading us in the subway: a quick glimpse of the star under ground, before she’s another celebrity being mobbed by adoring fans.

Jessie J’s debut album Who You Are will be released in the US this Spring on Universal / Republic.

Jessie J Voted #1 for ‘Sound of 2011′

Jessie J, the UK singer-songwriter who recently broke out in the US with her outrageous music video for “Do It Like A Dude,” has topped the BBC’s Sound of 2011 chart. The list highlights the very best up-and-coming artists of the new year, and is compiled from key music critics, broadcasters and bloggers. Until recently, Jessie has developed her art both on stage and behind the scenes, writing hits for megastars like Kylie Minogue and Miley Cyrus. But the music she writes for herself has more edge: ‘attitude-filled urban pop and big soulful ballads.’ Along with all that, she has an insane Aguilera-esque voice and a magnetic personality. Congratulations Jessie, we can’t wait to hear more! Check out the rest of the ‘Sound of 2011′ list here.

Artists in the top five in previous years have included Florence and the Machine and La Roux (Sound of 2009), Adele and Duffy (Sound of 2008), Mika and Klaxons (Sound of 2007), Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs (Sound of 2005), Keane and Franz Ferdinand (Sound of 2004) and 50 Cent and Dizzee Rascal (Sound of 2003).

Jessie’s debut album Who You Are will be released this Spring on Universal Republic. She is currently running a contest with Vevo, which will fly a lucky winner to NYC to see Jessie J perform live in the city – youtube.com/vevo.
