UK singer-songwriter Tanya Lacey is hurting ‘em with her versatility; from the dubby soul tune “Born To Fly” to the radio ready R&B of “Letter To My Ex,” and now some rap flexing on the danceable “T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)” – Tanya is not playing any games.

As Tanya mentions in the video above, what’s special about “T.H.E.” is that she initially co-wrote it with Dallas Austin who then played it for the famed Will.I.Am. Sir Will liked it so much, that he threw Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger on the track and made it the lead single from his upcoming album, #willpower.

Tanya speaks on the track:

“This song is about me expressing some of the frustrations and ongoing conflicts you tend to experience as an artist in the industry. It’s about having a vision and overcoming obstacles through willpower and persistence.” She continues, “I’m an all or nothing kind of person so ‘go hard or go home’ pretty much sums up my attitude to my career and life in general.”

Kelis’ New Album Flesh Tone Out Today

Kelis’ new album Flesh Tone hits stores today and has already been tipped as one of 2010′s “Best Bets” by Billboard. The David Guetta-produced single “Acapella” is already an international No. 1 hit, while the festive “4th of July (Fireworks)” is a club banger that mixes R&B soulfulness and electro breaks with a rip-roaring wobbly bass riff. Kelis says of the album, “there’s a physicality behind it – it’s about blood, muscle, heart. I was pregnant when I recorded 75 or 80 percent of this music… And that became a real driving force for me. She also worked with label head will.i.am, Alle, Benny Benassi, Free School, Boys Noize and Burns to achieve her club-ready sound.

“Wow!!! This is dope, Kero. I love it, I love it!” is what will.i.am has to say about the Bay Area’s Rapper/producer/DJ Kero One’s Early Believers, out today.  Three years after receiving Remix Magazine’s Best Hip Hop Album of 2006 award and collaborating with Talib Kweli and Mark Farina on his debut, Kero modulates from soulful jazz tinged tracks to upbeat synth-driven party bangers on his sophomore album.

Early Believers features some of his favorite vocalists such as Gilles Peterson protégé UK singer Ben Westbeech (“When The Sunshine Comes” and “Goodbye Forever”), Finland’s answer to modern soul, Tuomo (“Let’s Just Be Friends” and “Love and Happiness”) and Portland’s Ohmega Watts (“Stay On The Grind”) all showcasing Kero One’s growth and maturity as a writer, composer, vocalist and arranger. Enjoy a free download of the opening track to Early Believers, “Welcome To The Bay,” with Jacqueline Marie.
