Legendary Music Producer Arif Mardin Dies At 74

Producer, arranger and songwriter Arif Mardin passed away yesterday in New York City after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 74.
Mardin was the first student to attend the Berklee College Of Music with a Quincy Jones scholarship. Throughout his tenure at Atlantic Records from 1963 - 2001, he produced the likes of Bee Gees, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Average White Band, Barbra Streisand, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Roberta Flack and Bette Midler. Most recently he achieved major success with Norah Jones, producing her wildly successful album 'Come Away With Me.' He was recipient of 12 Grammy Awards and a myriad of other awards.
