What began as one of London's popular club residency nights has become and grown into England's livest summer event for funk, soul, and dance. Outgrowing its previous venues and now in its 3rd year, the Lovebox Festival 2006 boasts a roster that would make any non-European a bit jealous.
Taking place the weekend of July 22 - 23 in Victoria Park (East London), the headliners on Saturday are no other than festival creators and chillout kings, Groove Armada. They will be joined on the main stage by Shlomo, Candi Stanton and many more. A few steps away will be the funky fresh Giles Peterson Brownswood Arena, which will welcome talents such as Jamie Lidell, Bugz In The Attic, Mr. Peterson himself, and several others. Oh yeah, let's not forget Roots Manuva (DJ Set) and DJ Mark Ronson both making an appearance at the 55DSL Block Party tent.
And that's just Saturday.
On Sunday, London will welcome home native sons, Jamiroquai, as they play their only London summer festival in preparation for their greatest hits release later this year. Joining them is reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff (maybe festival go-ers will be treated to a Jamiroquai/Cliff 'Harder They Come' collabo) , The Feeling, and The Bees. The 555DSL Block Party tent brings together scratch and cut extraordinaire from Philly, DJ Cash Money, the ever so smooth DJ Spinna and a plethora of other sound masters.
Note that this is not even one quarter of the talent expected at the estimated 12 arenas set up that will feature live bands and DJ's from around the world.
As if the performances weren't enough, there will be games, rides, food concessions, vendor booths, an Aerosolics graffiti wall and many other spontaneous happenings to keep attendees entertained.
