Syd Barrett Passes Away

2006 has been a year of saying goodbye to many pioneers, and today continues this grim reality. Essential Pink Floyd co-founder and member Syd Barrett has died at the tender age of 60. Barrett is credited with laying down the foundation for the groundbreaking rock band, which is credited with influencing many of today's musicians. His showcasing of spontaneous stage antics led many to believe the speculations about his heavy and damaging drug use. For quite some time, the talented singer and songwriter has been hiding away, leaving many to wonder if he was even still alive. Leaving the band in the late 60's, Barrett's contribution was always felt throughout Pink Floyd's long career, and for that he will be greatly remembered and missed.
