Washington DC Organizations Announce Essay Competition

Being big proponents of organizations that promote positive social change through music, The Washington Mystics Foundation and Educational Lyrics, LLC have created an essay competition in conjunction with the YouthAIDS Day at the Washington Mystics. Offered to youth ages 14-19 who attend the Hip Hop forum events, winners will receive a $500 scholarship prize. The next Hip Hop Forum titled YouthAIDS will take place July 27, 2006 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the Verizon Center of Washington, DC. The forum will be hosted by YouthAIDS Global Ambassador Ashley Judd and YouthAIDS Music Ambassador Wynonna Judd, and a panel of peer educators from DC based Metro Teen AIDS with the assistance of Hip Hop forum hosts Adimu and Kira Means. Participants will be educated about the current AIDS crisis in Washington, DC and around the world and will meet young people living with AIDS. Moderators Ashley and Wynonna Judd will facilitate dialogue among the youth and help deliver AIDS information in easy to understand ways.

Essay contestants will prepare an essay in response to the issue(s), the discussion and insightful experience.
