The highly anticipated collaboration from Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, Gnarls Barkley has been confirmed to play at this year's Coachella, debuting their inaugural performance.
Quickly becoming established as one of the biggest emerging talents of 2006, Gnarls Barkley will join an already esteemed list of performers including Tool, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Damien ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, Franz Ferdinand and Common to name a few.
The live performance on April 30th will coincide with the release of their album, entitled “St. Elsewhere”, on May 1st (Downtown/Atlantic/Warner Bros.). The album will be preceded by the April 10th release of the single ‘Crazy’.
Danger Mouse is considered one of the most promising artists in music today. He produced Gorillaz ‘Demon Days’ album, for which he earned a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year. He has been honored as one of GQ’s ‘Men of the Year’; named “Eccentric Genius of the Year” by SPIN; and hailed as "The Hottest Hip-Hop Producer in the World" by NME. Danger Mouse gained unprecedented notoriety after producing his infamous Grey Album, dubbed a 'bootleg masterpiece' by GQ, awarded Entertainment Weekly’s Album of the Year and considered a watershed moment in music history.
Cee-Lo is a Grammy nominated artist and founding member of one of the leading Dirty South super groups Goodie Mob. His debut solo album ‘Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections,’ with songs including ‘Gettin' Grown’ and ‘Closet Freak’ established him as an elite member of next generation urban artists. He further cemented his acclaimed status with the release of his follow up ‘Cee-Lo Green...is the Soul Machine’ CD featuring Pharrell and Ludacris. As a live performer, Cee-Lo is known as one of the most potent starts in music, a one-of-a-kind force of nature.
The early word on Gnarls Barkley has been bubbling in the last few weeks in the UK, with the leak of the song ‘Crazy’. Not yet even a white label, the song is being championed by Radio One’s Pete Tong, Zane Lowe and Jo Wiley. BBC has called it "the hottest song of 2006" and Arena magazine announced they are “sure the biggest single in the first half of this year will be ‘Crazy’.
