The shortlist nominations for the 2006 MOBO awards were announced this morning, and as expected, there is an overflow of heavy competition. Gnarls Barkley, Outkast and The Streets will battle it out for the Best Group title, while GB's "Crazy" will be pinned up against Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" in the Best Song category. Rae is also nominated for Best UK Newcomer alongside Lady Sovereign, and Kanye West finds himself with Pharrell in the Best International Male group. Nelly Furtado gained a nod in the Best International Female category and to top off Rae's three nominations, she earned a spot alongside veteran Beverly Knight for the honor of Best UK female. The award ceremony will take place on September 20, 2006 at Royal Albert Hall in central London. Further details (including voting) can be found at www.mobo.com.
