"Like a funk free version of Beck" according to Rolling Stone, Badly Drawn Boy (born Damon Gough) is set to release his fifth studio album 'Born In The UK' on October 17th via Astralwerks. A biographical album about growing up in Northern England during the intense social climate of the 70's, Gough teamed up with Nick Franglen, one half of organic dance maestros Lemon Jelly, to create 'Born In The UK.' Originally recording 25 new songs (mostly in the legendary Rockfield studios in bucolic Wales), Gough and Franglen pared it down to 12, which took the two almost six months to do.
In support of this forthcoming album, Badly Drawn Boy will play a handful of dates starting in October. In the meantime, you can listen to a few tracks here.
