Nina Simone Gets Remixed

With seemingly every label cashing in on their back catalog through remixed versions of classic tracks, from the Verve Remixed series, Motown Remixed, Re-Bop: The Savoy Remixes, Blue Note Revisited, Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass Rewhipped and more, it all seems to be getting a little stale. But everytime I think that, another remix album comes out that keeps me interested.
This time around, Legacy Recordings decided to revisit the recordings of Nina Simone during her RCA Records period. With music that struck a chord with the emerging club underground in New York and Chicago during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, producer Scott Schlachter brings together contemporary dance and electronic music’s best producers, including Francóis K., Tony Humprhies, Mocean Worker, Coldcut, Nickodemus, Groovefinder, Madison Park & Lenny B., Chris Coco, DJ Logic, Organica, and more, to create 'Nina Simone: Remixed and Reimagined.' Due out October 31st, a few tracks will most likely hit her MySpace page soon.
