Out this week, two of Cali's most respected hip-hop acts come together to deliver 'Heroes in the City of Dope.' Released via OM:Hip-Hop, which brought us Strange Fruit Project, 'Heroes in the City of Dope' is already being called an album that "proves that Zion I and The Grouch will continue to shine by delivering powerful messages and thought provoking subject matter through their diverse sound" (The Source). Produced by Amp Live with guest producers Headnodic (Crown City Rockers), Eligh (Living Legends), and The Grouch and guest artists emcee Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, soul and funk rocker Martin Luther and the multi-talented singer Esthero, Zion I & The Grouch have created something different.
With notable track records individually, with Zion I having released 3 critically acclaimed LPs, including 'Mind over Matter' (1998), 'Deep Water Slang' (2000), and 'True & Livin’' (2003) and The Grouch having been at the forefront of the west coast’s independent rap movement for over a decade, together they bring a fresh take on hip-hop that they once again will prove themselves as individuals but also as a group. Be sure to catch them on tour, as they hit the road for the next 3 months.
