And The Nominees For The 2007 Plug Awards Are…

The 2007 Plug Independent Music Awards nominations are in full effect, featuring the favorites of a select community who champion independent music. With by far the most nominations this year, James Yancey AKA J Dilla (R.I.P.) garnered 6, including Male Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year for his brilliant Donuts.

In the general music category, Alice Smith earned a nomination for Female Artist Of The Year. Her 2006 album For Lovers, Dreamers & Me is a heavy favorite of ours. Unsurprisingly, Matthew Herbert’s most accessible full length, Scale was nominated for the Electronic/Dance Album Of The Year. Kieran Hebden of Fourtet fame managed two nominations for his DJ album on K7!’s DJ-Kicks series and his collaborative album with the legendary musician Steve Reid, entitled The Exchange Sessions Vol. 2. In the Obsessive Music Category, Jamie Lidell and Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings are up for the Live Act Of The Year award. The Plug 2007 awards will take place through January 2007 via the Plug Awards website. Be sure to cast your vote to ensure your favorite artists receive the accolades they deserve!
