Brooklyn-based Afrobeat collective, Antibalas (Spanish for “bulletproof”) have signed with Epitaph sub-label, Anti-, which serves as home to fellow artists Tom Waits, Neko Case and Blackalicious. The record deal promises to facilitate growth beyond Antibalas’s previous polyrhythmic and politically active albums.
Having already collaborated with heavyweights as diverse as Medeski, Martin and Wood, TV On The Radio, and Gomez, the 12-member band recently recorded their fourth long-player with distinguished producer John McEntire (Stereolab, Tortoise, Tom Ze). McEntire encouraged the group to branch out into darker and sonically undiscovered territory. We're anxiously awaiting the LP, entitled Security, which will be released March 2007, followed by heavy touring.
Tracklist For Security:
1. Beaten Metal
2. Fillibuster XXX
3. Sanctuary
4. Hilo
5. War Hero
6. Ice
7. AGE
