"I got my wish list on my last album so I made this one unattainable," Lupe Fiasco boasted to Billboard.com. "Now I want to work with Pink Floyd, or the remnants of Pink Floyd." Having set an impressive precedent with his debut album Food And Liquor, teaming up with stars Jay-Z, Kanye West and Jill Scott, Lupe can only look skyward for his forthcoming LP The Cool, which will be produced solely by talent-spotted Soundtrakk and Prolyfic.
Lupe’s triumphant sample clearance with jazz great Chick Corea for “American Terrorist” has sown in him the ambition and audacity to approach Floyd. Originally turned down by Corea (who did eventually succumb to Fiasco’s art of persuasion), he persisted and “went the extra mile to make sure he heard the rest of the record and could see that there was no cursing, and that there was positivity. It's that same approach with Floyd. I'm really serious!"
